Effect of organotin compounds (TeT) used in antifouling paints on cultured marine molluscs - a literature study

چکیده
Organotin salts, used as antilouling substances have a deleterious effect on the environment. particularly on molluscs and especially on the Japanese oyster Crassostrea gigas. A synthesis 01 the effects 01 tributyltin (TBT) on cultured molluscs reveals the lollowing effects: 1) acute and chronic loxicity to the adults; 2) accumulation in the f1esh 01 the adults; 3) perturbation 01 reproduction particularly lertility. mortality 01 offspring. and deerease in larval growth rate; 4) deerease in the growth rate 01 juveniles and thickening 01 the shell; and 5) modilication 01 the physiology al sublethallevels.

Study on Tributyltin Chloride Accumulation Factors in Fish Tissue by Analysis of Variance
Organotin compounds have been found different application in industries, agricultures and pharmacological sciences via their various physical and biological specifications. One of the most important applications of these compounds, especially tributyltin TBT is in marine antifouling paints and coatings. Concern about the accumulation of tributyltin compounds on fish and shellfish and the advers...
متن کاملDirect determination of the organic extent of tin species in environmental samples by X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES)
Introduction Organotin compounds have been used since the 1960s as an effective antifouling agent in paints applied to ships and aquaculture nets in the marine environment. However, organotin compounds cause damage to nontarget marine organisms by leaching from the coating applied to boat hulls into the marine environment. For Sn analyses, speciation of the organotin compounds has been of great...
متن کاملImposex in Thais Rustica (mollusca: Neogastropoda) (lamark, 1822) as an Indicator of Organotin Compounds Pollution at Maceio Coast (northeastern Brazil)
The use of OTC (organotin compounds) as biocides in naval antifouling paints causes impacts on non-target organisms. One of these impacts is a syndrome called imposex in gastropod molluscs. Imposex is the imposition of male secondary sexual characteristics in female gastropods as result of endocrine disruption. In this preliminary study, imposex was observed in four out of ten sampled stations ...
متن کاملMarine organisms: A potential source of natural antifouling metabolites
Marine organisms have been proven to be excellent sources of environmentally benign biogenic compounds. These metabolites have received much attention because of their pharmacological and antifouling activites. Biofouling process is known to cause serious problems to the submerged structures. Many countries have ratified an international treaty to ban the application of antifouling coatings bas...
متن کاملMethod Development for the Determination of Tin in a Marine Sediment and a Preliminary Study of Tin Distribution from La Paz, B.c.s., Mexico
Organotin compounds are used as fungicides and antifouling agents, which are incorporated into paints for use in sea vessels. These compounds have been found to be a threat to the environment. Method development for the determination of total tin in marine sediments by Zeeman GFAAS was studied. The optimum pyrolysis and atomization temperatures for tin analysis were 1100oC and 2300oC, respectiv...
